Make Your Own Reed Diffuser Oil
Anyone can make their own reed diffuser oil. You need only two ingredients, both of which can be found online. It is very expensive, though. Your local dollar store might sell reed diffuser sets for under $5 but the quality of the diffuser oil…well, it stinks.
The two ingredients of reed diffuser oil are the diffuser base and a fragrance oil. Don’t listen to anyone who suggests that you use alcohol or DPG to make reed diffuser oil. They are inferior quality and will produce a lousy product. To make good quality diffuser oil, you must use ‘real’ diffuser base.
Unless you use a lot of this product, deciding how to make your own reed diffuser oil is almost cost-prohibitive. Premium reed diffuser oil base costs around $80 per gallon. Cheaper bases can be found online but, like anything else, you get what you pay for. Cheap diffuser base will produce a low-quality diffuser oil.
The fragrance oil is the expensive ingredient in reed diffuser oil. Most fragrance oils cost about $40 for 16 ounces and can be mixed at 25% or a ratio of 3:1. For every 3 ounces of reed diffuser oil base, you need 1 ounce of fragrance oil. To make one gallon of diffuser oil, you need 96 ounces of diffuser base and 32 ounces of fragrance oil.
Unlike asking advice on how to make candles, which lots of friends and family members might do, it’s doubtful you’ll find a local person who can explain how to make reed diffuser oil. Few people happen to have a gallon of reed diffuser base or 32 ounces of fragrance oil under the kitchen sink. Chances are you’ll have to find the diffuser base and fragrance oils online. On top of the cost of the products, you’ll have to pay shipping. All said and done, one gallon of scented diffuser oil will probably run about $150. No one said learning how to make your own reed diffuser oil would be cheap!
